Anastasia Beverly Hills – Lip Gloss – Moon Jelly

A galactic shimmer with a delicious, silky texture.

I decided to splurge on a few new lip glosses for the summer months where matte lips feel too drying, so I picked this one up when I got my ABH Prism palette.

This gloss is a clear base with a blue/violet shimmer, it’s not that subtle as you can see the colour reflect in low direct light – but it is lovely to add a bit of colour to your makeup looks whether worn alone, or on top of a colour. I like to use this when I have done a nude, soft every day makeup look as it adds a pop of colour which isn’t as over the top as full matte colours have – just a quirky extra!

The formulas of Anastasia lip glosses has to be, hands down, one of my favourite. For a start they all smell like vanilla/cake – yummmmy! The silkiness of their application is as delicious as the scent. These lip glosses are non-sticky, smooth and sleek on the lips. Although they smell delicious – thankfully they don’t have the same taste otherwise I’d be licking my lips constantly. This gloss lasts a long time without re-application, unlike other glosses I’ve used which wear out in an hour.

I generally stick to matte lips – but this lip gloss has been a godsend in this heat in providing my lips some added moisture and protection from dry prune, lips I usually get!

Bottom Line: Add a bit of galactic coolness to your looks this summer with this non-sticky, silky lip gloss!

IMG_6483

A new beauty subscription box to challenge the others!

I discovered True Beauty on Instagram where then got in touch and sent me a beauty subscription box to try out and review. So please note- I received this box complimentary to review!

The True Beauty model is to allow us to try out new products in the comfort of our homes via their curated monthly subscription box. Their boxes contain handpicked items, often with a theme, by the lovelies at True Beauty and you will receive four full sized items and two sample products to try out! Here is my box from May;

You would have seen a sneak peek of my subscription box on my Instagram stories – if you don’t follow me you should!! In my box I received a pair of Eylure Enchanted Power Flower eyelashes, NYX Vivid Brights eyeliner in Purple, Smashbox Lipgloss in Lilac, Garnier Skin Active Moisture Bomb face mask, NYX Tea Tree Blotting Paper, an E.L.F. Blending Brush and Belif cream sample.

I was very impressed with the variety and brands that were included – NYX and Smashbox are premium brands so to get such a haul as this was impressive, especially considering the £30 price tag. I have to point out that some items, for instance the Smashbox lip gloss are old season and no longer available, it’s still nice to have them in a subscription box and shows the initiative the creators had to ensure we have premium brands in this deluxe box without cheaping out. I’d rather have a slightly older product, even discontinued items, than have little bits and bobs that can often turn subscription boxes into bric-n-brac, fill ’em up clutter where I’m stuck with items that I don’t even value.

Bottom Line: A premium beauty box with a variety of brands from both ends of the beauty spectrum.

Price: From £24 a month, at True Beauty London.

E.l.f. Cosmetics – Eyes, Lips, Face – ExTRA Lip Gloss – Brian & Brett

IMG_5117

Highly pigmented lip gloss, which offers a matte lip coverage in a gloss!

I was actually blown away by these lip glosses – I have used other E.l.f. cosmetics products and I’m always surprised at the quality considering their budget friendly prices – and it was the same for these lipsticks!

These lip glosses are creamy, easy to apply, non sticky and don’t make you feel tacky whilst wearing them. They have a good formula which makes them easy and accurate to apply – I hate it when gloss is so runny it’s hard to put on and drips off like a Vladamua look.

These lip glosses come in a variety of colours and it’s easy to find one to suit your tone and style!

Bottom Line: They glide on easily, and are non sticky, but due to the high pigmentation they’re not suitable for lip-toppers but are a perfect alternative to lipsticks!

Price: £3.50 at e.l.f. Cosmetics.
