My Beauty Must Haves – What’s In My Kit? – 2022

IMG_9167

A new year marks the start of a new collection.

As you can see from my blog, my beauty and skincare goals have evolved as the years go on – taking bits from different trends to create my own favourite style.

I decided with us entering a brand new year I would declutter my makeup bag – out with the old  – and probably expired! – in with the new products to rejuvenate my zest for makeup.

Also probably saving my skin from an abundance of breakouts – please remember to adhere to expiry dates and use by on your cosmetics your skin will thank you!

To start, I sat down and thought about what I would like from my make up kit – did I want full coverage? Sheer coverage? Was I looking for subtle or bold colours? Drugstore or Premium? Did I want my routine to be a quick 15minutes or a self indulgent few hours? From here I was able to decide on my new ultimate kit!

First I wanted a new bag for my new items, so I decided to kill two birds and buy some new mini brushes from Spectrum Collections as their ‘The High Flyer’ collection is half price at £25 and includes an adorable light pink and rose gold case. Use that link for an extra 15% off.

I made up my mind and wanted my new kit to offer me sheer coverage with subtle bronzer and blush, but products that I could easily build up coverage in case I needed fuller coverage. This is what I bought to suit my new look;

I’ll be showing off my new makeup over the upcoming weeks on my Instagram as well as on here, so keep your eyes open for the in-depth reviews!

Rodial – Glamolash Mascara XXL – Black

IMG_6070

A bold, non-clumping volume boosting mascara!

This is the first of the Rodial makeup and skin collection I have tried – mainly due to the price point being quite high compared to my tried, tested and loved staples. So seeings as I got this free from a magazine (RED; May edition), I was very excited to try it!

I found the brush to be what I like, not too heavy so easy to manoeuvre and apply to all my pesky lower lashes. It applied evenly and the brush wasn’t saturated -just a nice amount to work with. It didn’t clump my lashes together like spider legs but left them looking like wispie falsies – very impressive!

I do think this will become a staple with use over time – and depending on how long the tube lasts it might even replace my beloved Urban Decay Perversion… Eeek! Never thought I’d say that!

Bottom Line: A wispie eyelash maker, adding volume without the clumpiness!

Price: £24 at Rodial.

Benefit Cosmetics – Do The Hoola – Bronze Kit

IMG_1581

The ultimate kit for turning your winter in to a bronzed season!

I decided to buy this kit to keep my Rhodes glow into the cold, dreary winter months – and boy is it good!

This kit boasts a selection of travel and handbag friendly deluxe minis of the various best sellers and new Dew The Hoola products. In this kit you get the following:

The Hoola bronzer is a mini version of the standard one, with 3gms of product compared to the larger 8gms – but there’s still a lot of product in there. It’s a very travel friendly version as its a solid plastic case – rather than the flimsy plastic casing sometimes found on the mini deluxe versions, and comes with a cute brush! (Brush is sadly prone to having bristles fall out – boo!)

The Benebalm is the deluxe version you get from Benefit’s mix and match which is usually around £5 on its own. The other Dew the Hoola items and the Hoola lip gloss are also deluxe mini sizes, which are perfect if you’re not too into bronzing but would just like to touch up a summer tan – or to trial before committing to a larger size with a higher price tag.

Bottom Line: Brilliant kit for trialling out the new Dew The Hoola range of bronzing items or composing a travel makeup bag.

Price: £24.95 from Benefit Cosmetics

Rating: **** (The brush bristles falling out on every use is a big no-no for me!)
