If you’re considering the Lush Hair Lab experience in Poole, here’s exactly what to expect, from the treatment itself to whether it’s actually worth it.
I was invited by the Lush PR team to the opening of the brand-new Lush Hair Lab in Poole, and later returned to experience the full botanical head spa treatment. This post shares my honest experience of the treatment, how it works, and whether I would personally book it again.
This experience was gifted, but all thoughts are my own.

This stunning new space — only the third Lush Hair Lab in the world — is located at the picturesque Dolphin Quays, overlooking Poole’s seafront.
From the moment I stepped inside, it felt like more than just a salon visit.
The space is designed to slow everything down, with a focus on both the experience and the results.
What is the Lush Hair Lab?
The Lush Hair Lab is a concept salon built around botanical hair care and sensory relaxation. Treatments are tailored to your hair and scalp, combining fresh ingredients, massage techniques, and a more mindful approach to hair care.
Vibrant yet calm, the space is filled with greenery, natural light, and shelves of handmade products. It sets the tone immediately — more of a self-care experience than a typical appointment.
What happens during the Lush Hair Lab head spa?
On my return visit for the full botanical head spa experience, everything was tailored to my hair and scalp needs.
Before the treatment began, I was invited to select a blend of herbs, spices, and flowers to create a personalised botanical poultice, which would later be infused into my hair wash.
It’s a small detail, but it makes the whole experience feel more considered and personal.

The Experience
As the treatment began, I was cocooned under a weighted blanket, which immediately made everything feel more relaxing.
It started with a scalp pre-treatment and massage, followed by a full wash and conditioning using fresh Lush products chosen specifically for my hair.

Each step included slow, intentional massage techniques, with soft background sounds that made it easy to completely switch off.
When it came to the blow-dry, I was offered tea, fruit-infused water, and even a blanket and hot water bottle, which made the whole experience feel more like a retreat than a salon.
My hair was prepped using Lush’s Shield heat protectant before styling, and everything left my hair smelling fresh, slightly sweet, and really clean without being overpowering.
The Results
The end result was soft, glossy, and noticeably lighter. It felt refreshed without being weighed down, which is something I don’t always get from heavier treatments.
More than anything, it felt like a full reset, not just for my hair, but mentally as well.
Is the Lush Hair Lab worth it?
If you’re looking for a quick, standard salon visit, this probably isn’t it.
But if you want something more immersive, something that feels slower, more intentional, and genuinely relaxing, then it’s definitely worth experiencing at least once.
For me, it’s something I would book again when I want to properly switch off rather than just get my hair done.
This isn’t just about getting your hair done, it’s about slowing down.
If you’re looking for a more considered, sensory approach to hair care, Lush Hair Lab is definitely worth exploring.
Thank you to the Lush team for inviting me to experience the Hair Lab, I would happily return for another treatment.
