Lifestyle – Simone Thomas Salon, Westbourne – My Hair Cut Experience – PR {Gifted}

IMG_1121

A beautiful salon, with friendly and professional colleagues!

I was kindly invited by Tegan, head of the Salon’s press team to experience a pampering hair cut and treatment at the Simone Thomas salon situated in Westbourne, Bournemouth. Please note I received this experience as complimentary in exchange for a review!

IMG_1139As soon as I entered the salon I was greeted with a very friendly “Good Afternoon!” and shown my way to the chicest waiting area ever – it was definitely my aesthetic. I was asked if I would like a beverage, so I chose my go to apple juice. If you’ve been following me for a while you know that’s my “I’m having my hair done.” drink – I’m very predictable.

I was then approached by my hair stylist, Ashleigh, who is a Senior Stylist and Colourist at the Salon; and we discussed what I wanted today and to discuss the general health of my hair.

IMG_1116First off, wow! – you could tell Ashleigh knew her stuff! Straight off the bat she could guess my hair routine just from my hair condition. She also pointed out where I had severe breakage from my straightener addiction – Why did none of you guys tell me I was missing a huge chunk of my hair at the side?!

Moving on, we discussed how to sort out and even my breakages, and how we can add layers to thin out my hair as it was getting warmer, and what I would like from my Olaplex treatment.

I was lead to the hair basins to get my hair shampooed and treated using my personally recommended Olaplex treatment. Mine was a three step process where the treatment is left on in intervals to help penetrate my hair. Once my hair treatment was finished, I had my hair conditioned and towel dried awaiting my cut. Back in my throne, I was given a top up of my apple juice and a few cookies to nibble on, whilst Ashleigh got to work in giving me a two inch cut off the length and layers to help style my hair.

IMG_1094My experience happened a few weeks before posting – before the March 23rd lockdown in the UK – and I was very impressed with the preventative steps I was seeing to help reduce the spread. I could clearly see the staff spraying down chairs, side tables and mirrors with disinfectants between clients and routinely. I felt very safe knowing how much the staff here were safeguarding their clients. But this isn’t all that Simone Thomas does for her clients – I was told by Ashleigh about their new well being range as well as the amazing work that happens upstairs in their hair loss clinic.

After my hair was cut, I was treated to a blow dry and we both decided to curl my hair to make the most out of my recent layers and to make my hair colour pop! I felt absolutely amazing afterwards – my hair felt so nourished and smooth from my Olaplex treatment and my cut hit all of my personal expectations!

LIFESTYLE – PRESS EVENT – Dirty Dancing @ The Pavilion, Bournemouth

A87C4063-7BD6-4347-A15B-B6D6006482BA

I was invited along to the Press Event to spend the evening captivated by Dirty Dancing on Stage at The Pavilion, Bournemouth, by the lovely folks at BHLive. This production will be showing until Saturday 13th July, you can book tickets at BHLiveTickets.co.uk

ABBFE7E7-A247-413A-89B9-0796A9DFFC6B

At the event I was greeted in the Pavilions Theatre Bar with a cocktail from their “Time of Your Life” specially themed Cocktail menu. I went for the “I Carried A Watermelon” one, as I cannot get enough of watermelon in this Summer Heat!

I took to my seat for Act One, and as I’ve never seen the film – I KNOW! – I was excited for what was about to happen. Wow! I was simply blown away, being a Dirty Dancing virgin, I wasn’t exactly sure about the plot, or how well it stuck to the movie, I was assured by Emma at EvenAngelsFall.com that it was true to the Hollywood version -so a must see for any Dirty Dancing fan.

The cast was superb and captured the audiences attention as soon as the curtains went up. The music, singing and dancing was more than enough to get me into the mood to try some Dirty Dancing-eque lifts in my living room as soon as I got home. The set design was amazing, and transitions between scenes were smooth and kept the theatre magic alive!

Dirty Dancing will be showing until Saturday 13th July at Bournemouth’s Pavilion – you can book tickets at BHLiveTickets.co.uk

As you aren’t a regular reader here, you won’t know my anxiety history. I’ll leave my story of how it started here in-case you want to have a nosey. Let’s just say I’ve had it for going on two decades and I’ve picked up some helpful coping strategies;

❤️ When you feel an anxiety attack coming on, try and get out into the fresh air and sit down if possible. I get hot and lightheaded in an attack so fresh air and somewhere to perch my bum is much needed.

❤️ The main thing is to concentrate on your breathing to try bring it back to normal. So breath in for 4, hold for 7 and let out for 8. I thought oh my goodness I can’t breath in for that long. But it really does work.

♥️ I have always found music to be the perfect distraction when I’m anxious. In particular I like soft music like acoustic or love songs. Songs that have great lyrics you can focus on. I also love listening to a crackling fire on the relaxing sounds app. Alternatively if you want loud music to try drown out the anxious thoughts that helps too in my opinion.

♥️ You’ve all heard of the grounding tip of things you can see etc using all your senses. Well I’ve come up with this one.

In your bag have something that has a scent that makes you happy like your fave perfume or cologne. I do love lavender too so some essential oils are really handy too. Have your happy photos on your phone in a folder easily accessible so you can look at them to bring your emotions back to not being stressed out. Your phone will come for the next two senses which is listen – so it could be the music I mentioned, or some affirmations that you can pre record to remind yourself that everything is going to be ok. Your mouth without a doubt will be dry in an anxiety attack so popping your favourite sweet in will definitely calm you down, tried and tested by me.

Last sense is touch. There are so many stress relievers out there on ebay/ wish / amazon. Having that at hand in your bag will come in so handy if that’s all you can manage to get during your attack.

♥️ Reach out and ask for help or just message/call someone you trust and say help me take my mind off things, distract me, make me laugh. Pretty sure you have one person you can turn to.

I really could go on and on and on but I think I’ll leave it there.

I’m always here for any of you if you feel the need to chat.

Hope this has been of some help.

Til next time,

Lifestyle – PR EVENT – Christchurch Harbour Hotel & Spa – Summer Launch 2019

F34EC770-F64B-478F-90AF-34D986062FB8

I was invited along to the Christchurch Harbour Hotel and Spa to celebrate their summer launch where I was showered with canapes, champagne and great company. The summer launch was to officially showcase the Upper Deck’s new menu along with their refurbishment.

0C34BCE2-D928-4C65-BF57-984FA55B235D

To make better use of the beautiful views the hotel has over the Christchurch harbour, they have reinvented their alfresco dining terrace and created a fresh, exciting new menu by their award-winning Chef Patron Alex Aitken.

It was a wonderful launch, with amazing company from the lovely ladies at Bournemouth Bloggers, and we all enjoyed the cocktails and paella stylishly served in oyster shells.

The views from the terrace and gardens are exquisite and stunning, and the weather was perfect to get in the swing of Summer alfresco dining!

Travel – Santorini – My 10 Day Exploration of Santorini

I’ve been terribly lucky with the fact that I was able to have such along holiday in a destination on my Bucket List. Ever since I saw those iconic white buildings with their bright, bold blue roofs I knew I had to experience it for myself in person – and so I was able to!

98063628-839C-4269-99FF-23A0FCB87744

We stayed in the Villa Sagini, which is located in Imerovigli, situated amongst the stunning greenery that covers the valley. It is a 5* Villa with its own housekeeper who visits every morning with fresh pastries for breakfast, along with a villa manager who is contactable via Whatsapp who gave superb recommendations for activities and restaurants to dine out in.

The villa boasted two bedrooms and a guest house situated in a cave to the side of the house. It also had an infinity pool which overlooked then island – it was simply stunning.

83FE94F7-4494-4A4F-94F8-5050012818A1

The stunning views didn’t stop at the villa. I frequently stopped off in Fira, around a 10 minute drive from the villa – if visiting Santorini, I do recommend renting a car to navigate the island.

Fira offers amazing views of the Caldera and the surrounding islands of Nea Kameni, Palea Kameni and Thirasia, with many restaurants situated on the edge of the cliffs offering a breathtaking panoramic view. It’s also the main city centre, where you can find supermarkets, an abundance of jewellery stores and souvenir shops.

8DB8A275-11EB-4E23-829C-EDDEDBA8669E

Another place I stumbled upon was the ancient village of Megalochori, which has the traditional Greek architecture that was native to the island. It’s a bit tucked away as you must park up and walk into to explore it due to the narrow roads that don’t allow for vehicles.

24F20B3F-029C-4B80-80FA-54E08AF6CC8B

There are numerous beaches to explore with each having a unique charm – and different coloured sand. The three hot spots are the Red Beach, White Beach and Kamari beach, the latter having black sand. The Kamari beach is easy to get to with plenty of taverna on the beach front to provide much needed sun in the midday sun. The Red Beach requires a hike along the cliff edge to get to it as it is within a cove with no roads or footpaths to gain entry. The White Beach is purely accessible via boat with no way to get to it otherwise – there are many ferries which will take you there but beware the last boat back is at 7pm!

Stay tuned for my next blog post where I give my top five activities to do whilst visiting the island!

Mask Time – South Korean Subscription Box – You Got It Glowing On – PR {PAID}

B312C938-6574-4E87-AD12-492312B3CBA9

I was very lucky to have Mask Time to reach out to me, and help me share in their new subscription box showing off the new South Korean skincare range from 9CC – Please note I was gifted this subscription box complimentary and paid to feature a review on my website.

The first thing that struck me regarding Mask Time was their wide selection of gift boxes – it’s not just a one size fits all kind of deal; they have a variety of boxes to suit every budget, every skin type and every personality.

9D2CC2F6-96DC-4C8E-A302-71D943A0FABB

Mask Time have different tiers of boxes, ranging from their £9.95 – Glow Starter box, which is their basic, to their £24.99 – Glow Setter box which contains more full size goodies. Each box has a variety of exclusive South Korean masks ranging from Fibre Masks, Peel Masks and Wash Off masks. These boxes are designed to easily fit through most letterboxes so you can order them and not have to worry about a trip to the post office if you were out!

The box I was sent was their special collaboration with the brand 9CC (Nine Changeless Champion) which contained an 100ml foam cleanser, an 100ml water drops cream, and three fibre face masks. As the products are Korean, they included a handy guide in English to instruct on how to use your new skincare goodies, along with some of their tips! Included with the products is a guide about the brand, and how its making waves in the beauty world with their products that are powered by the energy of the South Korean Sea.

5C69145D-C224-474C-9034-E475C28D4572

My first impressions of the products included were how they were full sized, and the quality of them. The fibre masks were thick, not the usual thin “tissue-paper” material with a hydrating and non sticky serum. The foaming cleanser has a iridescent sheen and cleansed my skin without leaving it feeling exposed or dry. The water drop cream had more of a balm appearance, but instantly dispersed into tiny droplets as the name suggested. Mask Time included a guide on how to categorise your skin from the drops appearance. They are very attentive to their customers and ensure we receive in-depth information regarding the products they include in their boxes – which I have found to be unique as I often find subscriptions boxes seem like a jumble sale of uncoordinated items, whereas these are curated regarding the items included.

Overall I would say this would be a brilliant subscription to have – the items included are quality items, full sized and not discontinued bits-n-bobs that were cheap to throw together you find in other subscription boxes. The variety of prices make them a budget friendly treat, and Mask Time also have their own online store where they sell individual Korean skincare masks and items, so if you don’t want to have a box – you can always pick up a single mask from their store!

Bottom Line: A brilliant box to explore Korean sheet masks and more!

Price: Subscriptions start from £9.95 a month, at Mask Time, or you can purchase individual items from their store!

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS – The Complete Daytime Collection– Limited Edition PR Mailer Kit

IMG_1493

I was over the moon when I found that Anastasia Beverly Hills were selling their PR mailer kit on their website due to having limited quantities left – that I just had to get it!

IMG_1495This mailer kit had the entire Daytime collection included for £51 – an absolute bargain when the palette alone is £33, and their liquid lipsticks are £20 a pop! Plus you get these cute Hailie Barber style sunglasses, so it was love at first sight for me!

They also sold the Sunset collection in the complete mailer kit for £49 – so you could grab the entire lot for £100! I decided to stick with just the Daytime collection as I prefer the shade selection and found I would have more use with it!

IMG_1494

The eye shadow quad contains the shades; Sunny, Sand Castle, Rose Quartz and Papaya (clockwise from top left), in the usual Anastasia single eye shadow format. Sunny and Rose Quartz are metallic shades with delicious pigmentation, low fallout, whereas Sand Castle and Papaya are matte which are wonderful as a base or adding dimension.

The palette is reusable as the single shade format means you can mix and match and customise the quad for travel needs or for an easy to carry compact for a night out. The palette is a pale pastel pink with a clear lid so you can clearly see the shades in the palette, as well as a stunning palm tree decor.

IMG_1550
The liquid lipsticks are both metallic and come in the shades Bellini,, a golden peach shade, and Sunset Punch, a dusty mauve.

Their packaging is different to the usual black and rose gold liquid lipsticks, with the lids being the same pale pink as the palette. Although the packaging is different, the lipstick applicator is the same as their other ones so its very easy to use.

I generally stick to matte lips – but these metallic shades are so delicious to layer on top of a nude A.B.H matte such as Crush or Pure Hollywood to add a bit of metal glamour. The formula isn’t clumpy or bitty which is often the case with anything metallic, these instead are as smooth as their matte shades.

Bottom Line: If you’re an A.B.H fan who is into peachy, golden sunny vibes – these are for you!

Lifestyle – PR Event – The Real Eating Co x Lunch’d Menu Collaboration

IMG_2587

A deliciously healthy alternative to your work lunch!

I was very lucky to attend this press event for the launch of the new The Real Eating Co. and Lunch’d collaboration pop-ups for me to review for my blog – Please note I received the meal/drinks as complimentary in exchange for a review!

IMG_2585

This event was to celebrate and introduce the collaborative efforts of The Real Eating Co. and Lunch’d at the Bournemouth branch, where we were being introduced to the new dishes on offer. These healthy menu pop-ups will be available on Tuesdays & Wednesdays – with two options, differing each week.

The first week was the delicious Big Phat Greek Hotbox, which I was lucky enough to sample, and the Jerk Chicken Hotbox. The second week debuted Panang Pad Thai and a Skinny Lasagne. These menu items will be available to take away or eat in, making it a wonderful healthy lunch alternative to the standard meal deal!

IMG_2586

As you guys know, I am a lover of Greek cuisine so I was absolutely thrilled when I got to try their Big Phat Greek Hotbox which had a delicious Aubergine Moussaka with a Quinoa Greek Super Salad, and Beetroot Hummus on the side.

IMG_2584

The portion was extraordinary – such a generous amount, yet light, fresh as well as very filling, it kept me going until dinner time! The meals come dairy and gluten free – with vegan options to suit those sans animal products.

Lunch’d is the brainchild of Oli Perron, who decided to go on to reinvent work lunches and turn them into a healthy, inspiring meal instead of the boring, mundane meal deals from the high street shops. This made the Real Eating Co collaboration undeniably irresistible as Helena Hudson, has the same ethos when it comes to stocking her indie cafes with healthy, quality eating. Her restaurants and cafes only uses the freshest, quality ingredients from local resources and suppliers to make it good for us, as well as good for the environment.

Pop in to The Real Eating Company in Bournemouth every Tuesday & Wednesday to see what delicious meals are popping up from Lunch’d!
