BECCA Cosmetics – Volcano Goddess – Eyeshadow Palette

IMG_0080

A stunningly beautiful palette of vivid, metallic and matte shades to unleash your inner Goddess.

I stumbled upon this palette whilst on Instagram, and I couldn’t believe the array of colours that were in this palette. BECCA have captured a Volcanic eruption perfectly – the deep reds, the light beige with the smokey greys and black.

I’ve seen BECCA on Instagram a lot, and in awe of their ability to create a natural glow and vivid shades, so I just had to get this one. I am so glad I did.

IMG_0061

If you follow me on Instagram you would know I crushed hard on this palette, its my go to for a bit of empowering glam. The multitude of shades allow me to create unique looks every time and dare me to be braver with each look!

The formula is creamy, with little to no fallout after a Jeffree Star-esque brush tap to remove excess, and the pigmentation is very vivid – a little goes a long way making this a perfect build up the shade palette.

The shades are punchy, but can be honed for a subtle eye look or you can create a strong, empowering eye look. This is definitely a palette everyone should have in their collections, it is simply stunning.

Bottom Line: One of the prettiest palettes I have ever bought!

Anastasia Beverly Hills – Lip Palette – Volume One

IMG_0288

A bold selection of stunning shades, with something to suit everyone.

As soon as this palette was announced – I had to have it, although I waited a while as I didn’t see many reviews on it, so was unsure if it would be worth it. I finally took the plunge with this palette as I am starting to experiment with my makeup more, so thought the vast collection of colours would be useful.

IMG_0287

I find the primary colours at the front are great for those with a better understanding of colours who would like a more customised lip, rather than just use the premixed colours – it also opens up a greater number of combinations that can be obtained by the palette.

This palette comes with a metal mixing plate and a dual ended tool, which has a lip brush at one end and a palette knife at the other, to aid in mixing and combining colours.

The amount of shades that come premixed – and can be made by mixing yourself – make this a perfect tool for any make up artist, or those who would like to branch out from their usual make up creations and try something new.

Bottom Line: A good piece of a kit for a make up artist!

Benefit Cosmetics – the Porefessional & Matte Rescue – Pore Score Kit

IMG_1760

Does this Pore-fessional duo Score five stars?

I was shown this kit during my search for a new primer to help combat my skin issues that cause my makeup to be patchy.  I suffer from large pores on my cheeks, and oiliness on my T-Zone, so I was suggested to buy this kit, as it includes a full-size Pore-fessional, and a travel size Pore-fessional Matte Rescue, which I could then use to mix and match my primers to my problem areas.

I have used Pore-fessional before, it’s a nude coloured silicon based primer so has a great ability to fill your pores to smooth skin texture whilst subtly evening skin tone – but this was my first time with Matte Rescue.

IMG_1759

Matte Rescue was the biggest let down of the century. It was sold to me as a mattifying gel that dries down, but instead what I got was a gloopy mess that no matter how long I left it to dry for peeled along with my foundation. No matter whether I set it with powder, then applied my foundation or concealer on top – it became a patchy mess.

The only plus to buying this set is that it cost the same as the standard Pore-fessional so the Matte Rescue was free along with a miniature It’s Potent which is handy for my upcoming holiday…

Bottom Line: Stick to the original and give the Matte Rescue a big old miss…

Price: £26.50 from Benefit Cosmetics

Rating: *** (Just stick to the original and enjoy the It’s Potent eye cream).

OPV Beauty – Yemoja Eyeshadow Palette

IMG_2069

A majestically beautiful palette of vivid, metallic and matte shades.

I stumbled upon this palette whilst on Instagram, and I couldn’t believe the colours and how vivid they were – so I had to buy it and test it for myself. And I’m so glad I did.

IMG_2068

OPV Beauty based this palette on inspiration from the Nigerian goddess of Yoruba, the protector of women, love, and healing. This lead to the creation of twelve oceanic shades ranging from a deep crimson red, Eko, to a deep blue, Oba.

The palette boasts a healthy amount of matte and foil shades to help add dimension and light to your eye makeup. The shadows are build-able, with good colour pay off, and blend well allowing for creating combination shades.

The foils apply easy with fingers, and via wet or dry flat brushes to help create intensity desired. My personal favourites are Ayao, a pale pink gold reflects which when applied is a wonderful rose gold appearance, and Oko, a deep foiled forest green. The diversity of the shades make this a great palette to experiment with, and the quality is superb with little fallout.

IMG_2070

Bottom Line: A delicious array of colours to create dramatic foiled looks as well a matte masterpieces.

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS – The Complete Daytime Collection– Limited Edition PR Mailer Kit

IMG_1493

I was over the moon when I found that Anastasia Beverly Hills were selling their PR mailer kit on their website due to having limited quantities left – that I just had to get it!

IMG_1495This mailer kit had the entire Daytime collection included for £51 – an absolute bargain when the palette alone is £33, and their liquid lipsticks are £20 a pop! Plus you get these cute Hailie Barber style sunglasses, so it was love at first sight for me!

They also sold the Sunset collection in the complete mailer kit for £49 – so you could grab the entire lot for £100! I decided to stick with just the Daytime collection as I prefer the shade selection and found I would have more use with it!

IMG_1494

The eye shadow quad contains the shades; Sunny, Sand Castle, Rose Quartz and Papaya (clockwise from top left), in the usual Anastasia single eye shadow format. Sunny and Rose Quartz are metallic shades with delicious pigmentation, low fallout, whereas Sand Castle and Papaya are matte which are wonderful as a base or adding dimension.

The palette is reusable as the single shade format means you can mix and match and customise the quad for travel needs or for an easy to carry compact for a night out. The palette is a pale pastel pink with a clear lid so you can clearly see the shades in the palette, as well as a stunning palm tree decor.

IMG_1550
The liquid lipsticks are both metallic and come in the shades Bellini,, a golden peach shade, and Sunset Punch, a dusty mauve.

Their packaging is different to the usual black and rose gold liquid lipsticks, with the lids being the same pale pink as the palette. Although the packaging is different, the lipstick applicator is the same as their other ones so its very easy to use.

I generally stick to matte lips – but these metallic shades are so delicious to layer on top of a nude A.B.H matte such as Crush or Pure Hollywood to add a bit of metal glamour. The formula isn’t clumpy or bitty which is often the case with anything metallic, these instead are as smooth as their matte shades.

Bottom Line: If you’re an A.B.H fan who is into peachy, golden sunny vibes – these are for you!

Pixi Beauty – Eye Reflections Shadow Palettes – PR

IMG_1469

A beautiful collection of neutral, every day shades, or shimmering delights!

I was very lucky to receive these products from Pixi Beauty’s PR List for me to review for my blog – Please note I received this complimentary!

IMG_1470

Natural Beauty Eye Shadow Palette

I love these new formulas of these eye shadows, they’re such an improvement on the previous ones. The amount of fallout has decreased, yet the pigmentation is a wonderful improvement. These eye shadows have a long lasting formula with added Vitamin E to nourish and protect the eye area during wear. The micro fine Mica is brilliant at adding lustre without adding chunky glitter found else where. The lustre they create is subtle or build-able depending on how its applied – wet or dry!

The two new palettes are available in either Natural Beauty, a stunning array of neutrals and browns, or Reflex Light, which is a diverse collection of golden, red and mauve shades. The Natural Beauty palette composed of matte and shimmer shades to help define and contour the eye area, where as the Reflex Light palette is an all shimmer bonanza!

IMG_1468

Reflex Light Palette

Bottom Line: Decide between beautiful, neutral shades for day time escapades or stunningly sparkling shades – either way, you’re on to a winner.

Lifestyle – Event – Lush Bournemouth’s Palentine, Galentine, and Valentine Day!

IMG_1583

A wonderful evening for those looking to self pamper, or with a loved one!

I was very lucky to attend this event for Valentine’s day for me to review for my blog. The lovely ladies at Bournemouth’s Lush welcomed us with lovely Rose and Raspberry mock tail to set the mood, and introduced themselves to us and gave us an overview of what will be happening during the night.

IMG_1585

We also introduced ourselves and then relaxed whilst sipping the delicious mock tails and browsing the store as it was closed to the public – giving us free reign of the stock to try!

To start with we each created the Sex Bomb bath bombs, and was taught how the master compactors at the nearby Lush factory make hundreds each per eight hour shift, as they are seasoned professionals – where as it took me two tries to create one where you can see the Rose!

After this, we were introduced to Lush’s collection of solid massage bars and given information about each type and what they’re best for. Then we all grabbed a massage bar each, and gave each other arm and hand massages after learning the special techniques that Lush utilise in their Spa’s to soothe their clients aches and pains.

IMG_1584

Once we were soothed, we had more mock tails and then made our own Rosy Cheeks face mask from scratch, learning the important properties each ingredient contributes to the mask and the benefits they give the skin.

After all the events and activities we were allowed once more to peruse the shelves and select items we want to purchase, as well as one-on-one time with a Lush expert to have our queries answered! The lovely ladies bid us adieu! and gave us a wonderful goody bag, each containing a few surprise goodies and our personally handmade bath bombs and face mask!

Pop in to your local Lush store to see if they are holding an event soon. The next one open to public in Bournemouth is on the 28th March 6-8pm for Mother’s Day celebrations, please contact the store to reserve a spot!

Makeup Revolution – Brow Pomade – Blonde

IMG_7707

A pigmented, easy to blend brow pomade to get your brows on fleek!

Recently I decided to change colour of my brow pomade to something lighter for the Summer months as my hair has gone lighter and my previous Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow pomade was getting too dark. I found this look-alike pomade from Makeup Revolution when I bought the stunning Abracadabra pressed glitter palette!

When comparing the consistency of the pomade compared to the DipBrow, they’re very similar – they’re both highly pigmented so a lot goes a long way, and their very easy to blend to allow for a flawless brow transition. If you’re looking for a temporary shade, then I do recommend this brow pomade, as it’s a very good dupe of the cult favourite ABH DipBrow. But, if you’re looking to get one for long-term use I’d recommend investing in the DipBrow, as its longevity is astounding.

IMG_7706

One thing I’ve noticed is for a blonde shade it is close to a medium brown in ABH terms, but due to the limited 6 shades Makeup Revolution has compared to the 11 shades that ABH boast, make sure you do a colour check in store to get the closest match! Plus side – this one is vegan!

What I do love from this kit is the brush that you get included – it doesn’t look like much but its a handy, on the go, applicator which isn’t half bad considering the actual cost of this pomade! It comes with an angled brush end, and a flat brush end, the latter of which is perfect for cleaning up the brow with concealer!

Bottom Line: Amazing quality, pigmentation, and a brilliant DipBrow dupe at a fraction of the cost!

Eylure – Enchanted Limited Collection – Power Flower

IMG_7714

Wispy, lightweight eye lashes that create a naturally but full look!

These lashes balance volume with length due to the mix of long and short lashes. As they’re spaced out and not compacted into a black block, these are stunning for use with daily outings and events without making you look over done – subtle but noticeable. They’re wispy and very lightweight which makes them comfortable to wear, and the band flexes easy allowing a better fit to your natural lash line.

IMG_7716

As with all Eylure eyelashes – these come with the adhesive included. The thing I love about Eylure’s adhesive is that it comes with an easy to use applicator to allow precise application of the glue due to its flat and tapered end!

These are very easy to apply and remove – I can apply these using my fingers alone or along with a pair of tweezers, or using the Eylure applicator tool.

Bottom Line: These eyelashes are perfect for a daytime event, or for everyday wear as opposed to their more glamorous, fuller luxe collection eye lashes.

Anastasia Beverly Hills – Lip Gloss – Moon Jelly

IMG_7712
A galactic shimmer with a delicious, silky texture.

I decided to splurge on a few new lip glosses for the summer months where matte lips feel too drying, so I picked this one up when I got my ABH Prism palette.

This gloss is a clear base with a blue/violet shimmer, it’s not that subtle as you can see the colour reflect in low direct light – but it is lovely to add a bit of colour to your makeup looks whether worn alone, or on top of a colour. I like to use this when I have done a nude, soft every day makeup look as it adds a pop of colour which isn’t as over the top as full matte colours have – just a quirky extra!

IMG_7711

The formulas of Anastasia lip glosses has to be, hands down, one of my favourite. For a start they all smell like vanilla/cake – yummmmy! The silkiness of their application is as delicious as the scent. These lip glosses are non-sticky, smooth and sleek on the lips. Although they smell delicious – thankfully they don’t have the same taste otherwise I’d be licking my lips constantly. This gloss lasts a long time without re-application, unlike other glosses I’ve used which wear out in an hour.

I generally stick to matte lips – but this lip gloss has been a godsend in this heat in providing my lips some added moisture and protection from dry prune, lips I usually get!

Bottom Line: Add a bit of galactic coolness to your looks this summer with this non-sticky, silky lip gloss!
