Lifestyle – Simone Thomas Salon, Westbourne – My Hair Cut Experience – PR {Gifted}

IMG_1121

A beautiful salon, with friendly and professional colleagues!

I was kindly invited by Tegan, head of the Salon’s press team to experience a pampering hair cut and treatment at the Simone Thomas salon situated in Westbourne, Bournemouth. Please note I received this experience as complimentary in exchange for a review!

IMG_1139As soon as I entered the salon I was greeted with a very friendly “Good Afternoon!” and shown my way to the chicest waiting area ever – it was definitely my aesthetic. I was asked if I would like a beverage, so I chose my go to apple juice. If you’ve been following me for a while you know that’s my “I’m having my hair done.” drink – I’m very predictable.

I was then approached by my hair stylist, Ashleigh, who is a Senior Stylist and Colourist at the Salon; and we discussed what I wanted today and to discuss the general health of my hair.

IMG_1116First off, wow! – you could tell Ashleigh knew her stuff! Straight off the bat she could guess my hair routine just from my hair condition. She also pointed out where I had severe breakage from my straightener addiction – Why did none of you guys tell me I was missing a huge chunk of my hair at the side?!

Moving on, we discussed how to sort out and even my breakages, and how we can add layers to thin out my hair as it was getting warmer, and what I would like from my Olaplex treatment.

I was lead to the hair basins to get my hair shampooed and treated using my personally recommended Olaplex treatment. Mine was a three step process where the treatment is left on in intervals to help penetrate my hair. Once my hair treatment was finished, I had my hair conditioned and towel dried awaiting my cut. Back in my throne, I was given a top up of my apple juice and a few cookies to nibble on, whilst Ashleigh got to work in giving me a two inch cut off the length and layers to help style my hair.

IMG_1094My experience happened a few weeks before posting – before the March 23rd lockdown in the UK – and I was very impressed with the preventative steps I was seeing to help reduce the spread. I could clearly see the staff spraying down chairs, side tables and mirrors with disinfectants between clients and routinely. I felt very safe knowing how much the staff here were safeguarding their clients. But this isn’t all that Simone Thomas does for her clients – I was told by Ashleigh about their new well being range as well as the amazing work that happens upstairs in their hair loss clinic.

After my hair was cut, I was treated to a blow dry and we both decided to curl my hair to make the most out of my recent layers and to make my hair colour pop! I felt absolutely amazing afterwards – my hair felt so nourished and smooth from my Olaplex treatment and my cut hit all of my personal expectations!

As you aren’t a regular reader here, you won’t know my anxiety history. I’ll leave my story of how it started here in-case you want to have a nosey. Let’s just say I’ve had it for going on two decades and I’ve picked up some helpful coping strategies;

❤️ When you feel an anxiety attack coming on, try and get out into the fresh air and sit down if possible. I get hot and lightheaded in an attack so fresh air and somewhere to perch my bum is much needed.

❤️ The main thing is to concentrate on your breathing to try bring it back to normal. So breath in for 4, hold for 7 and let out for 8. I thought oh my goodness I can’t breath in for that long. But it really does work.

♥️ I have always found music to be the perfect distraction when I’m anxious. In particular I like soft music like acoustic or love songs. Songs that have great lyrics you can focus on. I also love listening to a crackling fire on the relaxing sounds app. Alternatively if you want loud music to try drown out the anxious thoughts that helps too in my opinion.

♥️ You’ve all heard of the grounding tip of things you can see etc using all your senses. Well I’ve come up with this one.

In your bag have something that has a scent that makes you happy like your fave perfume or cologne. I do love lavender too so some essential oils are really handy too. Have your happy photos on your phone in a folder easily accessible so you can look at them to bring your emotions back to not being stressed out. Your phone will come for the next two senses which is listen – so it could be the music I mentioned, or some affirmations that you can pre record to remind yourself that everything is going to be ok. Your mouth without a doubt will be dry in an anxiety attack so popping your favourite sweet in will definitely calm you down, tried and tested by me.

Last sense is touch. There are so many stress relievers out there on ebay/ wish / amazon. Having that at hand in your bag will come in so handy if that’s all you can manage to get during your attack.

♥️ Reach out and ask for help or just message/call someone you trust and say help me take my mind off things, distract me, make me laugh. Pretty sure you have one person you can turn to.

I really could go on and on and on but I think I’ll leave it there.

I’m always here for any of you if you feel the need to chat.

Hope this has been of some help.

BECCA Cosmetics – Volcano Goddess – Eyeshadow Palette

IMG_0080

A stunningly beautiful palette of vivid, metallic and matte shades to unleash your inner Goddess.

I stumbled upon this palette whilst on Instagram, and I couldn’t believe the array of colours that were in this palette. BECCA have captured a Volcanic eruption perfectly – the deep reds, the light beige with the smokey greys and black.

I’ve seen BECCA on Instagram a lot, and in awe of their ability to create a natural glow and vivid shades, so I just had to get this one. I am so glad I did.

IMG_0061

If you follow me on Instagram you would know I crushed hard on this palette, its my go to for a bit of empowering glam. The multitude of shades allow me to create unique looks every time and dare me to be braver with each look!

The formula is creamy, with little to no fallout after a Jeffree Star-esque brush tap to remove excess, and the pigmentation is very vivid – a little goes a long way making this a perfect build up the shade palette.

The shades are punchy, but can be honed for a subtle eye look or you can create a strong, empowering eye look. This is definitely a palette everyone should have in their collections, it is simply stunning.

Bottom Line: One of the prettiest palettes I have ever bought!

OPV Beauty – Yemoja Eyeshadow Palette

IMG_2069

A majestically beautiful palette of vivid, metallic and matte shades.

I stumbled upon this palette whilst on Instagram, and I couldn’t believe the colours and how vivid they were – so I had to buy it and test it for myself. And I’m so glad I did.

IMG_2068

OPV Beauty based this palette on inspiration from the Nigerian goddess of Yoruba, the protector of women, love, and healing. This lead to the creation of twelve oceanic shades ranging from a deep crimson red, Eko, to a deep blue, Oba.

The palette boasts a healthy amount of matte and foil shades to help add dimension and light to your eye makeup. The shadows are build-able, with good colour pay off, and blend well allowing for creating combination shades.

The foils apply easy with fingers, and via wet or dry flat brushes to help create intensity desired. My personal favourites are Ayao, a pale pink gold reflects which when applied is a wonderful rose gold appearance, and Oko, a deep foiled forest green. The diversity of the shades make this a great palette to experiment with, and the quality is superb with little fallout.

IMG_2070

Bottom Line: A delicious array of colours to create dramatic foiled looks as well a matte masterpieces.

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS – The Complete Daytime Collection– Limited Edition PR Mailer Kit

IMG_1493

I was over the moon when I found that Anastasia Beverly Hills were selling their PR mailer kit on their website due to having limited quantities left – that I just had to get it!

IMG_1495This mailer kit had the entire Daytime collection included for £51 – an absolute bargain when the palette alone is £33, and their liquid lipsticks are £20 a pop! Plus you get these cute Hailie Barber style sunglasses, so it was love at first sight for me!

They also sold the Sunset collection in the complete mailer kit for £49 – so you could grab the entire lot for £100! I decided to stick with just the Daytime collection as I prefer the shade selection and found I would have more use with it!

IMG_1494

The eye shadow quad contains the shades; Sunny, Sand Castle, Rose Quartz and Papaya (clockwise from top left), in the usual Anastasia single eye shadow format. Sunny and Rose Quartz are metallic shades with delicious pigmentation, low fallout, whereas Sand Castle and Papaya are matte which are wonderful as a base or adding dimension.

The palette is reusable as the single shade format means you can mix and match and customise the quad for travel needs or for an easy to carry compact for a night out. The palette is a pale pastel pink with a clear lid so you can clearly see the shades in the palette, as well as a stunning palm tree decor.

IMG_1550
The liquid lipsticks are both metallic and come in the shades Bellini,, a golden peach shade, and Sunset Punch, a dusty mauve.

Their packaging is different to the usual black and rose gold liquid lipsticks, with the lids being the same pale pink as the palette. Although the packaging is different, the lipstick applicator is the same as their other ones so its very easy to use.

I generally stick to matte lips – but these metallic shades are so delicious to layer on top of a nude A.B.H matte such as Crush or Pure Hollywood to add a bit of metal glamour. The formula isn’t clumpy or bitty which is often the case with anything metallic, these instead are as smooth as their matte shades.

Bottom Line: If you’re an A.B.H fan who is into peachy, golden sunny vibes – these are for you!

Pixi Beauty – Eye Reflections Shadow Palettes – PR

IMG_1469

A beautiful collection of neutral, every day shades, or shimmering delights!

I was very lucky to receive these products from Pixi Beauty’s PR List for me to review for my blog – Please note I received this complimentary!

IMG_1470

Natural Beauty Eye Shadow Palette

I love these new formulas of these eye shadows, they’re such an improvement on the previous ones. The amount of fallout has decreased, yet the pigmentation is a wonderful improvement. These eye shadows have a long lasting formula with added Vitamin E to nourish and protect the eye area during wear. The micro fine Mica is brilliant at adding lustre without adding chunky glitter found else where. The lustre they create is subtle or build-able depending on how its applied – wet or dry!

The two new palettes are available in either Natural Beauty, a stunning array of neutrals and browns, or Reflex Light, which is a diverse collection of golden, red and mauve shades. The Natural Beauty palette composed of matte and shimmer shades to help define and contour the eye area, where as the Reflex Light palette is an all shimmer bonanza!

IMG_1468

Reflex Light Palette

Bottom Line: Decide between beautiful, neutral shades for day time escapades or stunningly sparkling shades – either way, you’re on to a winner.

Anastasia Beverly Hills – Lip Gloss – Moon Jelly

IMG_7712
A galactic shimmer with a delicious, silky texture.

I decided to splurge on a few new lip glosses for the summer months where matte lips feel too drying, so I picked this one up when I got my ABH Prism palette.

This gloss is a clear base with a blue/violet shimmer, it’s not that subtle as you can see the colour reflect in low direct light – but it is lovely to add a bit of colour to your makeup looks whether worn alone, or on top of a colour. I like to use this when I have done a nude, soft every day makeup look as it adds a pop of colour which isn’t as over the top as full matte colours have – just a quirky extra!

IMG_7711

The formulas of Anastasia lip glosses has to be, hands down, one of my favourite. For a start they all smell like vanilla/cake – yummmmy! The silkiness of their application is as delicious as the scent. These lip glosses are non-sticky, smooth and sleek on the lips. Although they smell delicious – thankfully they don’t have the same taste otherwise I’d be licking my lips constantly. This gloss lasts a long time without re-application, unlike other glosses I’ve used which wear out in an hour.

I generally stick to matte lips – but this lip gloss has been a godsend in this heat in providing my lips some added moisture and protection from dry prune, lips I usually get!

Bottom Line: Add a bit of galactic coolness to your looks this summer with this non-sticky, silky lip gloss!

Velvet Caviar – Phone Cases & Accessories – Express Your Unique Style – PR

Case Selection2

Phone cases to suit your style, mood, and lifestyle!

I stumbled upon Velvet Caviar cases on an Instagram post, and knew I must have them in my life. Velvet Caviar sell a wide variety of cases for both iPhone, Samsung and Android phones with complimenting accessories such as grip rings, which help you hold your phone and prop them up – making them perfect for on the go commute binge watching of Friends on Netflix – even though we have seen the entire series hundreds of times.

Peachykeen

They’ve recently dropped a case, reminiscent of Too Faced’s Peachy collection which is very much on trend – so if you’re a massive Peachy fan – or proud of a peach of your own (squat club!) – you can represent it with their new clear Just Peachy Phone case! Or if you’re a fan of marble effects they have a plethora to choose from, and if you want to be extra – they have holographic marble! To be even more extra, they also offer grip rings in coordinating colours so that you can look on fleek, and help your selfie game! By using the ring you’re able to get new angles without worrying about dropping your phone – also perfect for in bed viewing so you don’t drop your phone on your face. We’ve all been there… owch!

Lips

They have numerous designs, one to fit your personal style, or Instagram theme if you want to add a more personal item to your Instagram flat-lays or selfies. The designs aren’t the only distinctive feature for Velvet Caviar – they take the safety of your phone very seriously. Each case is created to meet their strict protection requirements, and each case offers coverage on all sides & buttons, a front raised lip for screen protection, and a shock absorbing interior for drop safety – keeping your device safe from all sides!

Anastasia Beverly Hills – Eye Shadow Palette – Prism

IMG_7261

I am in love with this palette – it makes me feel like a part of a Coven!

Can I firstly just point out how amazing the gold on black velvet looks? It’s an edgy twist on their usual softer palette colour schemes, and I am living for it! Every time I pick it up it reminds me of witches coven, giving me total American Horror Story vibes which I simply adore.

This palette boasts a stunning array of colours from matte pale peach, to stunning gold foil, and then a deep black. My favourite colours from this palette are Lucid, a white gold duo chrome that gleams pink in the light, Osiris – a glittering deep violet with red reflect, and Dimension- a silver grey with pink reflect.

IMG_7374

I’m constantly in awe of Anastasia Beverly Hills’ ability to create such striking shades with vivid pigmentation. This palette is in the same creamy formula, as their Soft Glam and Modern Renaissance, rather than the widely criticised, chalky palette Subculture.

These shades blend as you’d expect- easily, with a creamy texture and minimal fall out. I love the range of finishes – matte, shimmer and foils – you get in this palette, allowing a multitude of different colour and texture combinations. This really adds to the value as you can mix and match with their previous palettes to create so many looks.

IMG_7505

Bottom Line: The vividness of the colours, along with the different textures and classic Modern Renaissance buttery formula makes this one a keeper!

Anastasia Beverly Hills – Eye Shadow Palette – Soft Glam

IMG_5815

Anastasia’s return to the softer side of the palette.

After the critically acclaimed Modern Renaissance palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills, they decided to create an on trend Grunge-esque palette called Subculture which was received to mixed reviews. People complained about fallout, the terrible blendability and left generally bad reviews regarding the formula but raved about the colours. So hearing the negative press, ABH decided to revert back to their Modern Renaissance formula and with that Soft Glam was born!

IMG_5817

Taking a selections of pinks, blushes, browns, and oranges, and some favourites from Modern Renaissance such as Tempera, Burnt Orange and Sienna, this is by far one of my favourite palettes which has sadly pushed aside Modern Renaissance. This is my go to palette for formal events and weddings as I enjoy the soft, glittery looks I can create.

IMG_5858

After how much I disliked the formula of Subculture, I am so glad they returned to the original formula from Modern Renaissance palette. The shadows are creamy, simple to blend and apply, which makes creating stunning and pigmented eye looks so quick and easy.

Bottom Line: The colours are rich, highly pigmented and silky to the touch! So glad they brought back the old, good formula!
