Paris Travel Diary – A Summer in the City of Light | Travel

Paris is one of those cities that never quite feels the same twice — and that’s exactly why I keep going back.

A few summers ago, I spent time living in Paris — not just visiting, but actually settling into the rhythm of the city. And it completely shifted how I experienced it.

Of course, I still did the iconic moments — the Eiffel Tower, Disneyland Paris, long walks through the city — but this time, it felt slower, more immersive, and honestly, a lot more personal.

Exploring Paris like a local (or at least trying to)

Having visited Paris multiple times before, this trip felt different. I had a new appreciation for city life — and instead of rushing between landmarks, I leaned into how the city actually moves.

One of my favourite parts? Learning to navigate the Metro. It might sound small, but it completely changes how you experience a place. I picked up a Mobilis pass and suddenly had the freedom to explore without overthinking every journey.

That’s when Paris really opened up.

From Montmartre and the Sacré-Cœur to spontaneous stops in little cafés, I found myself covering so much of the city in a single day — part sightseeing, part cardio.

And yes, climbing the Eiffel Tower definitely counted as cardio… which I fully justified with a chocolate Cornetto at the top.

A little bit of luxury (and a lot of Sephora)

No trip to Paris feels complete without a stroll down the Champs-Élysées — equal parts window shopping and quiet admiration.

And, of course, I ended up in Sephora… where I somehow spent most of my budget on the first day.

But honestly — when in Paris.

Absolute heaven.

Paris is always a good idea — but experiencing it differently makes all the difference.

Final Thoughts: This trip reminded me that travel isn’t always about ticking off landmarks — sometimes it’s about slowing down, getting slightly lost, and letting a city reveal itself to you.

If you’re planning your own trip, I’d always recommend balancing the iconic spots with moments that feel more personal — that’s where the magic really is.
