There’s something about a late-summer escape that feels softer, slower — like the world is easing you out of routine rather than pulling you away from it. My trip to Rhodes was exactly that. A week of warmth, stillness, and those small, golden moments you don’t quite realise you need until you’re in them.
Even in September, Rhodes holds onto the heat — a welcome contrast to the early autumn chill back in the UK. The air feels lighter there, the days longer somehow, and everything moves at a more intentional pace.
I stayed on the Kallithea side of the island, at a beautiful five-star spa and resort that quickly became our little sanctuary for the week. With its own private stretch of beach and uninterrupted sea views, it felt less like a hotel and more like stepping into a slower version of life.
Mornings blurred into afternoons between the pool and the sea — sunbathing, reading, and cooling off in water so clear it barely felt real. We spent time snorkelling just off the shore, spotting tiny fish beneath the surface, and resetting in that quiet, effortless way only a beach day allows.
Evenings became their own ritual. Sunset dinners overlooking the ocean, golden light stretching across the horizon, and that familiar feeling of not quite wanting the day to end.
Of course, I couldn’t visit somewhere with so much history without exploring a little deeper. A day in Rhodes Old Town was easily a highlight — wandering through ancient streets, visiting the Archaeological Museum, and stepping into the Palace of the Grand Masters felt like moving through layers of time.
If you’re someone who enjoys blending relaxation with a touch of culture, this part of the island offers that balance beautifully.
And in true me-fashion, I couldn’t resist a little beauty moment while abroad. A spontaneous stop at Sephora turned into a mini haul (because when does it not?), picking up a few pieces I’d had my eye on — including some Tony Moly favourites that I still come back to now.
Rhodes gave me that rare combination of complete switch-off and quiet inspiration — the kind that lingers long after you’ve unpacked your suitcase.
If you’re planning a late summer escape, or simply craving somewhere that blends sea, history, and softness in equal measure, Rhodes is one I’d return to without hesitation.
