Last night, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the vibrant and whimsical production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang the Musical at the Bournemouth Pavilion.

This beloved story has a fascinating history, originally penned by Ian Fleming as a children’s book in 1964.
The tale was then brought to life on the big screen in 1968, with a screenplay by Roald Dahl and Ken Hughes, captivating audiences worldwide with its enchanting mix of adventure and innovation.
The film’s success paved the way for this delightful musical adaptation, which continues to capture the hearts of audiences with its timeless charm.
This production at Bournemouth Pavilion featured standout performances by the talented Ore Oduba and Charlie Brooks.
Oduba, known for his charismatic presence, brought an infectious energy to the role of Caractacus Potts. His performance was both heartfelt and humorous, perfectly capturing the spirit of the eccentric inventor.
Meanwhile, Charlie Brooks shone brilliantly as the villainous Childcatcher, delivering a performance that was equal parts menacing and delightful. Their chemistry on stage added an extra layer of magic to the evening, making it an unforgettable experience.
The show itself was a visual and auditory feast. The dance numbers were beautifully choreographed, with the ensemble delivering high-energy performances that left the audience in awe.
The stage props, especially the iconic Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car, were marvellously crafted, enhancing the whimsical atmosphere of the production.
The musical score, featuring classics like “Hushabye Mountain” and “Truly Scrumptious,” was performed with such passion and precision that it was impossible not to sing along.
Before the show, I discovered that you can find the famous Chitty outside the Pavilion.
This stunning display is being shown on behalf of Beaulieu’s National Motor Museum for the opening night, offering a perfect photo opportunity and a chance to get up close with the star of the show.
Overall, attending Chitty Chitty Bang Bang the Musical at Bournemouth Pavilion was an extraordinary experience.
The exceptional performances, dazzling dance routines, and iconic music made for a truly brilliant evening.

If you have the chance to see this production, don’t miss it—
it’s a magical journey that captures the imagination and leaves you with a smile.
