Pineapple Island: Sustainable Fashion Collaboration with Surfers Against Sewage | Review – PR Event

Fashion that doesn’t cost the Earth!

Previously you would have seen me at Pineapple Island‘s VIP Launch Event where I was introduced to this clothing and jewellery brand where they’re on a mission to make ethical fashion easily accessible. I was so excited to be invited to SOBO Beach as a guest at their latest environmentally friendly fashion project where they have teamed up with Surfers Against Sewage and Brother’s Make!

This latest collaboration was to create a line of recycled jewellery that utilises the single use plastic waste which is cleaned and reclaimed from our UK beaches by Surfers Against Sewage as part of their ongoing Million Mile Clean campaign.

At this press event, we were asked to take to the local Southbourne beach to collect as much rubbish we could to help keep plastic out of our seas as well as improve our beach side environment.

Once all the beach area was cleaned we were given a display on how the duo at Brother’s Make melt down the collected plastic into different objects – from table tennis paddles to plant pots, from combs to keyrings – reusing the plastic whilst keeping it out of our waters. This whole recycle, remodel and reuse ethos is what inspired Pineapple Island’s latest fashion accessories!

Each item bought from their Surfers Against Sewage collaboration donates 50% of the price to the charity, which is being used to fund ongoing projects all across the United Kingdom to help preserve and save our oceans and marine life.

Get to know the brand:

Pineapple Island is a small team based along the South Coast of the UK in the seaside town of Bournemouth, who work closely with a studio in the heart of Bali, where they have a full time designer and part-time group of outworkers who create Pineapple Island jewellery as a second income.

With their head designer in Bali, they work together to create ethical and affordable jewellery for our customers so they can look good and feel good! Their new collection is an array of sustainable, organic cotton t-shirts, sweatshirts, and beach perfect bags!
