Hello Klean first launched in 2019, when founder Karlee Oz became sick of her hair feeling dry and brittle, and decided to make a product to save us all!
The kind folks at Hello Klean decided to reach out and gift me their viral Purifying Shower Head to try out and see if I can feel and see the difference in my skin and hair by combating the Dorset coast hard water!
Ever go away on holiday and suddenly your hair is silky smooth and manageable, skin is clearing up and glowing – and not from the sunburn? Chances are your vacationing in a place that doesn’t have hard water!

Here in the UK – and particularly around London and the South coast, our water is often hard water – which means its full of minerals, heavy metals, chlorine and other contaminants.
The Hello Klean Shower Filter is all about prevention for those living with hard water, and helping users achieve as healthy hair and healthy skin as they possibly can.
Hair issues with hard water include dryness, discolouration and dandruff whereas skin issues such as eczema, psoriasis, rashes, dry skin and body acne are more common.
Hard water also stops your shower products from lathering as they should which means product wastage and non-optimum results!
I have been using this shower head for the last four months before doing this review to ensure that my results are a) long lasting, and b) not contributing to any other factors.
The first noticeable thing I experience with this shower head is that my shower had less visible limescale between my cleans – which is caused by the water deposits – so this made me have a bit more faith in the filtering system.
The second thing I noticed is that I started to use less conditioner when washing my hair – and even just shampooing alone, was enough to get my hair clean and refreshed. I’m now experiencing less product build up and fresher hair for longer between washes.
My skin, including my back and facial acne, started to clear up. I have now been able to reduce my skincare routine to just cleanser, moisturiser and SPF, with the occasional salicylic acid treatment for stubborn under the skin spots.
I’ve told you why you should be using this in hard water areas, and the results this shower head can give you for your skin and hair, so…
How does this shower head actually help with the hard water?
This shower head uses a filter made from a stainless steel mesh which captures any large sediment in the water while calcium sulphite removes chlorines.
The KDF 55 medium inside targets minerals and residual chlorine and the granular activated carbon remove bacteria, mould and odours.
Lastly, ceramic beads help to balance your shower water’s pH level.

You do need to change out the filters inside and Hello Klean have a refill kit for this. They suggest that each filter lasts for 13,000 litres of water, which is roughly 3 months for a household of 3, 4 months for a household of 2 and 5 months for a household of 1.
Bottom Line: Overall, I am really seeing the difference, and will definitely be getting my refill kit soon to continue this improvement to my hair and skin, and in turn my wellbeing. If you live in a soft water area – you might not see much of a return on your investment with this and could probably skip this purchase.
